82 Kat 1100 Resto Paint Scheme

Hi Members

With the help of Glen I have determined my Kat is an GSX1100SD, does anyone know why I see pics of Kats with just stripes along the top side of the tank verses painted tops with a stripe below the painted section. I assume the stripes are decals how does the the painter know where to paint to?

All of the stripes are decals, AFAIK.


Check the Diablo Cycle website for decal kits - http://www.diablocycle.com/GS1000-Katana-1983-Silver-Complete-Decal-Set.html

Whoever does your painting will have to refer to an OEM or previously painted tank and fairing for the various dimensions and locations of decals.
I'd reckon one of the forum members will have bits you can copy off - Paul?

Kats with just stripes along the top side of the tank ...... this is the factory paint scheme for the 1000cc SD

Thanks and bugger now I have to paint the top.
