Hi Folks, it's a few months away however, members are already keen to know when this years S.O.O. will be run. July has an overlap for the QLD/NSW school holidays and we don't want to see people having to decide between family time and Kat time although some wouldn't see that as a difficult decision. Kats win everytime don't they? Having double de-merit points in play for the holiday period could take the warm fuzzy feeling away for some riders so the end result is the S.O.O. is being bumped to the first week in August to make things much easier all round for the S.O.O.

2016 Katana S.O.O.

When: Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August 2016.

Where: Nambucca Heads NSW.

Staying: White Albatross Park.

https://whitealbatross.ahp.com.au/

As of today 12th March 2016 all the cabins are available however, to ensure a rack booking a cabin in March or April would be the go. Please don't leave it until July to make your booking as The White Albatross is a very popular place and it can run out of accommodation quickly. For anyone who hasn't been there before you'll understand why it is such a good place to stay once you get there and see it. Sea views, beach, river, great food and drinks all in the one place and no need to ride/drive once you have parked at your cabin.

Please make your booking by phone and not on-line and have Katana Australia included with your details as there may be a discount on the accommodation and if the discount comes through it will only be for those bookings that have the Katana Australia reference included at the time of booking the cabin.

As many of you will know sharing cabins is a good way to keep the cost down so if sharing is an option for you talk to each other about what can be arranged.

Saturday 6th.

2:00 p.m. - Meet up for QLD/NSW riders at Juan's Cafe in Dorrigo for anyone wanting to take the run up the range from Nambucca.

2:30 p.m. - Group ride down the twisties from Dorrigo to Nambucca.

7:00 p.m. - Dinner at The V Wall Tavern where we have our group table booked for the evening.

Sunday 7th.

Breakfast is very good at the White Albatross Kiosk (at the White Albatross Park entrance), great hot food and good coffee to start the day. Open for breakfast at 07:00 Sunday.

7:45 - 8:30 -Katana line up for photos and some fresh sea air to clear the head.

8:30 - Some riders will be keen to get moving so the show is pretty well over for the year with most riders fueling up and heading home.

Weather - August is normally fine with it being forecast as having only a few wet days for the month. Bring the wets anyway although, I am tempted to risk it if The Darklord says it'll be O.K.?

Usual set up folks, please post you name here if you are attending this years S.O.O. so we can keep everyone informed of events and of course being our annual event the preferred option is for riders to turn up on their Kat or a borrowed Kat if you have a really good mate! So please give your trusty, loyal, sexy Kat a weekend away to share the fun and Kat-ch up with mates and make some new Kat mates as well.

Pencil me in for the run from Rocklea to Kyogle or Casino as usual, next SoO my Kat will be done and I'll make every effort to go all the way :D

O.K. Pete. now is the time to let your plans to attend next years S.O.O. in August be know to the household so there shouldn't be any problem getting away for the weekend.

See ya tomorrow.

Cheers.

Hi Glen
If you promise it will be dry....... Although I can almost (not definitely) guarantee I will not be on a Kat (one islikely to be in bits being repainted and the other doesn't do long trips).
Stick me down as a likely maybe please.
Cheers

Yeah right oh Paul. I am seeking advice from The Darklord about what it'll take to keep us dry so watch this space. It's a pretty easy ride (in the dry) and I'll take "not definitely" as a starting point and we can work on holding off the Kat resto and starting it after the S.O.O. that way you get to ride the Kat and have it restored after it's weekend away sharing the love with the other big Kats. Ya know it's the only weekend trip away we have each year. No pressure mind you, just a mate helping out a mate as usual.

Cheers.

So far it looks like I'm in. It is the usual ride up Thunder bolt to the Oxley and back to the coast for the people heading north from the Sydney region on the Friday. I have a planned couple of hours ride for the Saturday to meet up with the Northeners at Dorrigo but of course that can change if we wish. More on that when we get closer . Hope to see a few more guys and gals from NSW this year as it will be a bit chilly but beautiful sunshine all weekend.

Nige

Yes Nige, it'll be perfect riding weather for the big Kats (and us) so round up your crew for this years S.O.O. and let the fun begin. You are already on the list mate so you have to be there eh?

Cheers mate.

Hi Nige
I'd be interested to have the details of the Thunderbolt ride as time gets closer.

Cheers

Nige, we make up trip cards for the Mighty Maroons - just helps everyone understand the game plan wrt fuel and feed stops etc.

We hand them out at the start and can be attached to key ring etc.

Happy to help if needs be.

You may need to do a special one up for PKay this time Derek... I dunno, something along the lines of... don't be soft, get out of bed and get riding!

Yeh you showed me that last year and is a good idea,in hind site should have done that for the trip to Ebden!!
Might try and put a bit more effort this year. Max are you down here in August for this run?

I rode the big Kat to work yesterday - I was thinking what bits I might pinch of it to make the other one able to make the trip - mainly rear shocks I think. Then I was grinnng thinking about taking it so I think Glen you win I'll be on the 7-fiddy. It's only 400km each way.
